Car Events You Don’t Want To Miss Out On
For all you car enthusiasts out there willing to travel miles just to see the latest and greatest, we have a big line up for the best car shows on offer from around the globe. Our guide features the best of Aussie shows: from Currimundi, Kedron & Kembla to crossing over to the big stages of Geneva and London, right through to the U.S. in Detroit. You could even plan a trip to visit all six of them!
Just 8’s 9th Annual Show and Shine is on September 1 this year, and it’s sure to drop some jaws as it exclusively shows 8 cylinder-vehicles. From the classics to the newbies, there’s something here for everyone. Kids and dads can get their faces painted and after a big day at the stalls, there’s a sit-down lunch at the Currimundi Hotel. If dads want to enter their pride and joy, it’s only $10 with free entry.
Mercedes-Benz Concours d’Elegance in 2019 is sure to be a hit with the locals. Located on the AFL Football Ground (end of 6th Avenue), gates open at 9 am where the best collection of Concours d’Elegance are encouraged to compete for the trophy and other cool prizes. You’ll see a wide range of vehicles on display, so come along and make it a fun day out. It gets a whole lot better with free entry.
Kembla Grange, NSW
On the 6th of October is the 10th Annual Motor Museum’s major fundraising event of the year with a huge line up of vintage and new vehicles with this year featuring the prestigious racing cars. The event kicks off at 9:30 am. Entering your car will only set you back $10 but trophies will be awarded on the day so fingers crossed your vehicle makes it in one of the ‘best of’ categories. If you’d like a more in-depth conversation with like-minded enthusiasts, there’s discussions and demonstrations held throughout the day and if you get a bit hungry there’s sure to be BBQ’s and coffee on standby. It only costs $12 for adults, $6 for children and kids under five can enter the event for free!
The annual Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) is scheduled to happen in March (5th – 15th) 2020. With over 900 cars on show and an expected 600,000 visitors, this is one event you really don’t want to miss out on. The Car Of The Year Competition as judged by 60 motoring journalists, went to the Jaguar I-Pace in 2019. The fully electric compact SUV was awarded the top prize of the Most Outstanding Car and will be available within the next 12 months. Car Of The Year has released the provisional candidate list for the upcoming 2020 competition. The Geneva event also employs sustainable practices where even the food is prepared onsite (Palexpo). Since 1905, the GIMS has continued to showcase the world’s best cars in many different categories.
To enter the event, adults will have to pay 16 CHF and, children and pensioners anywhere between 6-16 CHF. Due to the popularity of the show, the best hotels in the surrounding area fill up fast so it’s best to book in advance and plan ahead.
The 2020 London Motor Show holds no specific dates other than it will be held in mid-May at the ExCel Exhibition Centre, London. From Aston Martins to BMWs, Land Rovers and Ferraris, all the latest cars will be featured. To get your heart racing, the Supercar Paddock will also feature Ferraris, Bugattis, and fastest Aston Martins ever produced, live in action! The Live Arena will show off the best stunt driving with Ford Fiesta’s skilled stunt driver, Paul Swift, along with supercars and stunt taxis.
And if the kids get bored, you can keep them occupied with drawing competitions and model building in the exclusive Kids Zone! If that isn’t enough there are the big kid toys featuring the Monster cars followed by Q&A sessions with car legends. Be transported into the future with the best electric cars and tech on show as well. There’s so much to see and do, so be sure to keep an eye out for updated details. Entry Cost: Adult plus one free child: £20 (2nd child: £11.50 & under-fives: free).
Detroit, United States
The North American International Auto Show will be held 13-20 June 2020 at the Cobo Centre, Detroit. For the nine-day public show, gates will open at 9 am for a packed, fun day out with the largest collection of the world’s leading automotive from the best technology executives, designers, and innovative engineers. The global stage is set for the best engineering companies to debut their brand-defining cars and their latest developments. While it costs $14USD for adults to attend, seniors and children can enjoy this awesome event for half the price at $7USD.
Unlike most car events, the NAIAS will hold six unique shows:
- The Gallery: Featuring the ultra-luxurious event featuring high-end vehicles.
- Auto Mobili-D: The show offers an insight into the future’s mobility platforms with a wide range of technology.
- As always, the press preview, public preview, industry preview and charity preview are also available upon request. The show also contains a variety of cars – from the classic muscles, the futuristic electric to the stunning high-performance vehicles.
